Arrival/Traffic
Our request to you:
- If possible, choose an environmentally friendly way of travelling to Vienna by public transport or carpool.
- If you cannot travel by public transport, you have the possibility to have your journey CO2 compensated. With a monetary contribution equivalent to the distance you travel, you can support environmental protection projects and thus contribute to improving the global climate situation.

Arrival by plane
Vienna International Airport Schwechat is about 20 km south-east of the city centre. To come to Vienna you can use:
- the City Airport Train (CAT)
- the rapid transit railway line S7
- a rental car, a taxi or limousine service
The taxi rank at Vienna International Airport is located directly in front of the arrivals and departures hall.

Public transport
Underground trains, trams and buses are available. The University of Vienna can be reached by the trams 1, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, D (Schottentor station) and underground U2 (Schottentor station). Tickets can be purchased at the airport, at every underground station, in tobacconists and online.
Bike
You are also welcome to arrive by bike, there are plenty of bike racks available around the University of Vienna. In addition, WienMobil Rad, the bikesharing service of Wiener Linien with 3000 bicycles and over 200 stations throughout the city, is at your disposal.
